Visiting our foodbank
You will be welcomed by volunteers to discuss your situation and then be introduced to the foodbank supermarket.
“Thank you so much for today, all the staff were very welcoming, helpful and overall lovely. I really appreciated the time you took also to help me with the things we have discussed.”
We know that crisis can strike anyone and we also understand how difficult it can be to think about walking through a foodbank door. That’s why our foodbank volunteers aim to welcome everyone who comes to the foodbank with compassion, kindness and a listening ear.
Meeting your needs
Your foodbank referral will be exchanged for three days of emergency food. We want to make sure that we give you the right food to meet your needs, so please do let our volunteers know if you have any special dietary requirements or allergies, for example, gluten free, halal or vegetarian. Please let your referral agency know if you would rather a pre-made parcel rather than experiencing the foodbank supermarket.
Practical guidance and support
Foodbank staff take the time to listen and support you. They can direct you to local services and offer practical guidance so that you have access to the right support, helping you to break out of crisis. In the supermarket there is also a leaflet stand that we encourage you to look through.
Shopping for your food
You will be given a shopping list, which is designed to ensure that you will have enough food for 3 days. You can walk around yourselves or one of our volunteers can assist you as you go around if you prefer. There is a blue sticker swap system for you to change certain items on the list to your preferences. We encourage you to please bring your own bags ready to bag up your shopping at the end.
